1. Running WIN9-11 as a Service
Some manual configurations may be required to use all WIN-911 V7 functionality in Windows 8.1 and newer operating systems. This document will walk you through the steps required to get both WEB-911 XTools and the WIN-911 Service Wrapper functioning in Windows 8.1 and newer operating systems.
A. WIN-911 V7 Running as a Service in Windows 8.1 and newer
A.1 Issue:
WIN-911 V7 fails to start as a Windows Service. If you try to Start the Win-911 Service Wrapper manually in the Windows Service Manager, the service will eventually time-out.
A.2 Solution:
WIN-911 Service Wrapper requires Microsoft’s Interactive Services Detection service (UIODetect). UIODetect fails to start because interactive services were disabled. To re-enable interactive services, a registry change must be made.
1. Open the Windows registry by running regedit.exe
2. Go to the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows
3. Change the value of NoInteractiveServices from 1 to 0.
B. WEB-911 XTools in Windows 8.1 and newer
B.1 Issue:
Executing any of the WEB-911 XTools results in an error.
B. 2 Solution:
The error is caused by a compatibility mode setting for 2 WIN-911 executable. Once the compatibility mode is changed, the XTools should execute.
1. Open the Windows Explorer
2. Go to the WIN-911 V7 folder. The default install path for 64 bit operating systems is: C:\\Program Files (x86)\Specter Instruments\ WIN-911 V7
3. Find 911HealDB.exe right-click and open Properties.
4. Under the Compatibility tab, click Change settings for all users (at the bottom of the window). Uncheck Run this program in compatibility mode for: This will disable compatibility mode for this executable.
5. Go to the WIN-911 V7 folder. The default install path for 64 bit operating systems is: C:\\Program Files (x86)\Specter Instruments\ WIN-911 V7\Tools
3. Find 911Signal.exe right-click and open the Properties.
4. Under the Compatibility tab, click Change settings for all users (at the bottom of the window). Uncheck Run this program in compatibility mode for: This will disable compatibility mode for this executable.
