A watchdog alarm can monitor your connection to InTouch/Window Viewer. If the connection is lost, an alarm is generated and will be sent out through any configured notification types.

Here is how to set it up..

  • Open the WIN-911 Configurator
  • From the menu bar go to Configure -> Watchdog Timer Definitions
  • Click New
  • Enter the following for the fields on the Base Definition tab…
    • Tagname: InTouch Connection Status
    • Description: WIN-911 has lost connection with Window Viewer. Please restart WIN-911 to restore the connection.
    • Group Name: (Select which Group this alarm should belong to)
    • Access Name: InTouch Direct Connect
    • Uncheck ‘Use Tagname for Item’
    • Item Name: $Minute
  • Enter the following for the fields on the Alarm Conditions tab
    • Alarm: Disconnected
    • Normal: (You can leave blank since this alarm cannot return to normal)
    • Time-out After: 0 Minutes (This means that WIN-911 will trigger the alarm as soon as the connection to InTouch is lost)
    • The rest of the options on this tab are up to you, the default values are okay
  • Sounds tab
    • You’ll need to specify what WIN-911 will say when this alarm is active.
    • Tag: InTouch Connection Status
    • Alarm: Disconnected
    • Normal: (You can leave blank since this alarm cannot return to normal)
  • Save the configuration and restart WIN-911

Note: You can change the Tagname and Description to whatever you like. The goal is to inform someone that WIN-911 needs to restart in order to restore the connection to Window Viewer
