Introduction

Decision Blocks provide users with a method of branching notifications based off of a simple question. If it meets the requirements, the logic will branch to the right, if it does not, it will branch to the left. A combination of questions and methods can be utilized in a single Tactic to reach the desired goal.

This article will delve into a potential scenario where you can utilize the Active Decision Block in a Tactic and Strategy with minimal configuration.

Active Decision Block

The Active Decision Block will branch based off of the active state of the alarm. If it the alarm is active, the logic will branch right, if the alarm is clear, the logic will travel left. A great way to utilize this Block is to rerun the Tactic, making this more of an escalation and de-escalation apporach.

e.g.

In the event of an alarm. I want to notify the 1C Water Operator and Emergency Ops Roles. If after 20 minutes the alarm is still active, regardless of being acknowledged or unacknowledged, I want to re-notify. If the alarm has cleared, but remains unacknowledged, I want to notify the 1C Water Operator Role.

The above Tactic will examine the event and ask if the alarm is still active, and branch off based off the state. In the Strategy, the Initial Event should start the Tactic above, then, adding a Condition that says Upon Repeating Timer of 20 Minutes, restart the same Tactic. If the alarm remains active, it will continuously notify the 1C Water Operators and Emergency Ops Roles, but if they alarm clears, and remains unacknowledged, it will just notify the 1C Water Operator.
