Introduction

Decision Blocks provide users with a method of branching notifications based off of a simple question. If it meets the requirements, the logic will branch to the right, if it does not, it will branch to the left. A combination of questions and methods can be utilized in a single Tactic to reach the desired goal.

This article will delve into a potential scenario where you can utilize the Ack Decision Block in a Tactic and Strategy with minimal configuration.

Ack Decision Block

The Ack Decision Block will Branch based off of the acknowledgement state of the alarm. If it is Acknowledged, it will branch right, if it is not, it will branch left. A great utilization of this Block is to rerun the tactic, and notify certain people in the event that the alarm is acknowledged.

e.g.

In the event of an alarm, I want to notify the the 3C Water Supervisor, Operators, and Maintenance Roles. If the alarm is acknowledged, the acknowledging party logically will handle the issue, and no one else should be notified.

However, in the event that after 20 minutes the alarm is acknowledged, but the issue is still not resolved, I want to re-notify the Water Operators to further investigate.

The above Tactic will ask if the alarm is acknowledged, it most likely will not be if it is a new event. When setting up the Strategy, include the Tactic under the Initial Event, and a Condition that says Upon Repeating Timer of 20 minutes, restart that same Tactic. If the alarm was acknowledged, but never cleared, the Water Operators will get notified again.
